FAQ

WHAT IS INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS?

The Internal Family Systems Model was developed by Richard Schwartz in the 1980s.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic approach that identifies and addresses multiple sub-personalities or “parts” within each person’s mental system. Each part has its own viewpoints, feelings, opinions, behaviors, etc. Most parts fall into one of three categories - protectors, firefighters and exiles. The different parts that show up in one’s system are often in conflict with each other and with one’s core Self. The core Self is a concept within IFS that describes the confident, compassionate and curious whole person that is at the core of every individual.

IFS focuses on helping one identify the many different parts inside of them, get to know them and how they interact with the other parts, build a relationship to these parts from one’s whole Self, and help heal the parts that are holding onto burdens from the past.

Yes, the work we do together is completely confidential. If I seek out consultation around the work we do together, no identifying information about you will ever be provided.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU RECOMMEND DOING SESSIONS TOGETHER?

My 3 month mentorship is set up so that we meet 3x a month to start. One week is available a month for integration. It's set up this way so that we can establish a consistent foundation together. When there is a stronger foundation present, deeper work can take place. After you complete a 3 or 6 month program, we will check in to see where you're at, what you're needing and adjust our flow as necessary. Payment plans are available.

WHERE DO SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?

Session are available on Zoom or in person at my Bellingham office.

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?

You can read about the cost of my mentorships here. Payment plans are available. After you complete a mentorship, I offer individual sessions on a sliding scale $100 - $150. Sessions are typically an hour long. Longer sessions are available upon request.
